This Mind-Bending Geometric Art Can Only Be Seen From A Certain Angle

World-renowned French artist Georges Rousse has a talent for creating perspective-based optical illusions. From just the right perspective, they look like strange, impossible geometric designs – from any other, they look like a mess.

Rousse’s pieces are so realistic that they seem to be Photoshopped and digitally altered, but in reality, everything is hand-painted. When each piece is finished, Rousse takes a single picture from the ‘perfect’ angle. Then viewers are challenged to understand how the architecture, colors and lines fit together. As an architectural photographer, he has an excellent eye for detail, which is critical in completing the illusion of these meticulous works.

We collected some of his works along with images showing each piece from a different angle so that you can truly see just how complicated his mind-bending art really is.
